What Happens in Chainsaw Man Manga Chapter 33 (Summary)

The international assassins begin arriving in Japan and the chapter introduces several of them in quick succession. Quanxi is established first — a Chinese assassin described as the first devil hunter, an extraordinarily skilled fighter with multiple Fiend partners who travel with her. She is calm, precise, and clearly on a different level than most humans. Her Fiends — including Cosmo, Pingtsi, Long, and Tsugihagi — are both companions and weapons, loyal to her in a way that goes beyond professional partnership.

A second assassin, referred to initially as Santa Claus, is introduced through actions rather than directly — bodies are found that show a particular method, a signature that Public Safety analysts recognize as belonging to a European assassin with a contract that allows them to create devil-doll puppets controlled remotely. The puppets look human from a distance and can be planted anywhere, making Santa Claus uniquely dangerous in urban environments. The identity of the actual person behind the Santa Claus name is not yet revealed.

Denji, Aki, and Power continue regular operations while these threats are being assessed. The chapter uses their everyday interactions — Denji eating, Power arguing, Aki doing paperwork — to ground the reader before the arc’s escalation begins. Kishibe appears again and evaluates the team’s current state, expressing something close to satisfaction at how they have developed. He gives no indication of the specific danger coming, only that they should continue improving.
